about

This one is set in Chicago and it's about a shiny gun and a deal gone wrong. Our heroine -who thought it was true love -has been had -oh MY!

Paul Snow worked out the early structure of this tune with pals Nathan Logan and Stu Cole. The end result is a highly sleek version recorded and produced by John Plymale at Overdub Lane. Any money raised through Bandcamp will work towards continued studio recording. So grateful for the support!

lyrics

L-Train

Shined it up for you.
Loaded it too.
Struck a few poses.
Wondering what you might do.
Pretended to cast off one or two,
Then laid it on the table for you.

And then you -you left me on the L-Train cold.
You left me on the L-Train cold.
What happened to you?
What happened to you?

What did you dooooo?
What did you do?
I packed your suitcase and waited on the corner ‘til twenty of two.
I’ve got the money but, honey, it’s worthless if I don’t have you.
And I don’t have you.

Oh –you. You left me on the L-Train cold.
You left me on the L-Train cold.
What happened to you?
What happened to you?

What did you doooo?
What did you do?
I took the redline to Roosevelt
And then I scoured the park.
I found your boat at DuSable and waited ‘til well after dark.
Should you have a plan to re-embark.

Oh –you. You left me on the L-Train cold.
You left me on the L-Train cold.
You left me on the LTrain cold.

Bah-bah-b-dahdah.
Bah-bah-b-dahdah.
Bah-bah-b-dahdah.

What did you doooo?
What did you do?
I ran into Malik, he bought me a gimlet
He still thinks you’re a cop.
I telephone Bridgette, she cried when she told me
You never made the drop.
And now I’ve made it home, I see
My very last stop.

You. You left me on the L-Train cold.
Left me on the L-Train cold.
Left me on the L-Train cold.

So c-coohhhh-ohhhld. So c-coohhhh-ohhhld. So c-coohhhh-ohhhld.

Left me left me-so cold. Left me left me -so cold. (Repeats)
